In January 2021 Single Homeless Project was awarded funding from the ScottishPower Foundation. The funding has been used to create the Creative Industries Project (CIP) as part of our existing creative programme, run by SHP’s art-based programme – ArtHouse and SHP’s employment initiative – Achieving Potential.

The Creative Industries Project aims to enhance the connection between the two services for the benefit of clients through the provision of training courses, employability support and work placements, to support people moving further along the road of education and employment within the creative industries in London.

“At SHP, we recognise the importance of creativity as a highly successful engagement tool and have witnessed some beautiful work and moments come out of our hostel services over the past 5 years with support from SHP’s art programme – Arthouse. We are now looking to take it to the next step and support our clients into the world of creative work. We believe that through high quality creative training with professional artists, carefully structured programming and the supportive placement providers we can help our clients move towards building a career in the creative industries.”

– Arthouse, Creative Arts Manager, Meghan

We’ll be supporting clients through the ‘My Creative Journey’ process, focusing on three key areas:

  1. Skills Development

This is where the real fun begins! We will deliver 9-week exciting creative training courses across SHP services with leading industry professionals in:

  • Film-making

  • Jewellery-making

  • Carpentry

2. Professional Confidence

To ensure the skills clients learnt from the training courses are transferred into the world of creative work, SHP’s Achieving Potential team will support participants with regular 1-2-1s, CV/portfolio workshops and job searching.

3. Professional Experience

If a client fancies working in an environment where their creative skills can flourish, then we will be offering a range of employment opportunities for client’s with our industry placement providers; from voluntary work, further training and paid job roles.
